Over 100 customer comments....

"I am sending you this note to thank you for all your assistance you provided while I was searching for the most appropriate device to help my parents safely navigate their staircase. I very much appreciate all of your follow up calls. I was amazed on how knowledgeable, thoughtful and helpful you are when it comes to helping a client select the most appropriate device! Thanks to you, my parents now have the full use of their home and the freedom to come and go as they please. They are thrilled! Again, I thank you both." Sincerely, Paul B. Michigan.

FAQ's (Frequently Asked Questions)

Q. How soon should I contact you before I need the dumbwaiter?
A. It is best to start discussion as soon as you decide that you may want a dumbwaiter so that the space required and all possible issues can be addressed prior framing the shaft.

DO NOT BUILD BASED ON THE MANUFACTURER'S SAMPLE DRAWNGS. THERE ARE THINGS TO CONSIDER THAT MAY NOT BE OBVIOUS AND WILL AFFECT THE PRICE AND DESIGN.

Q. Does the dumbwaiter come with doors?
A. Yes, it comes with biparting metal doors that are part of the cab. However, the shaft that is supplied by others will require hoistway doors.

Q.What is considered a standard cab?
A. 20"wide x 20"deep x 30" tall with one door opening to allow loading and unloading from the same side.

Q. What other sizes are available?
A. Anything combination of measurement to a maximum of 32" x 32" x 42". There is also a minimum size which depends on factors as to type of locks, cab configuration, hoistway door consistency etc. Please call 1-800-572-9310 for assistance.

Q. What cab configurations are considered standard and not charged extra?
A. Refer to order page under 3 stop option.

Q. The shaft size seems to depend on many variables?
A. Yes, this is true. If the hoistway doors are not consistent on the swings then the shaft needs room to accommodate the locks on both sides. Also, the cab configuration determines the hoistway size. Please call 1-800-572-9310 for advice.

Q. What is considered custom?
A. Anything with measurements other than standard.

Q. What are the other types of cabs?
A. Load on side and straight through to the opposite side to unload. Load on the one side and make a 90 degree turn to the right or left to unload.

Q. How do I know what size of hoistway I need for the cab I want?
A. When you place the order, the factory will do drawings for your job indicating the exact size of the hoistway, and other details. The actual dumwaiter will not be manufacturered until you sign off on the drawings.

Q. What if I had a space that is already available and framed?
A. Contact SILVER CROSS at 1-800-572-9310 and provide the finished inside dimensions of the space. Depending on the door and cab configurations, a safe size is about 28" square. If the space is too small the cab size may not be useful.

Q. How is the dumbwaiter attached to the wall?
A. There is an aluminum rail that is bolted to the 4" x 4" attached to the wall. The dumbwaiter rides on this rail.

Q. What is included with the dumbwaiter?
A. The cab with biparting doors, the rail, all mounting brackets, wiring and GAL locks.

Q. What do we supply?
A. You would have the hoistway built, plug installed and supply or purchase the cabinet doors.

Q. How much assembly is required?
A. The cab is assembled and mounted to a small section of track complete with conductor cable. Your installer or contractor will install and assemble these componets and install the locks on the frame.

Q. What is the delivery time on the dumbwaiter?
A. Allow atleast six weeks from the time you return to us your approved drawings. Custom lifts may take longer. They could be delays for parts, etc. during busy season.
